中国文化英语版:肯定词汇的解析

1. 是 – Shì|是的 – Shìde

Used to confirm something. Typically, "shì是" is used in answers to questions that contain "shì是" .There's also "shìde是的" , which is a soft and polite agreement that also expresses complaisance to the person you're talking to. It's more colloquial than "shì是".

A: 你是中国人吗? nǐ shì zhōngguó rén ma? — Are you Chinese?

B1: 是 shì — Yes, I am.

B2: 是的 shìde — Yes, I am.

2. 对 – duì

Means "correct" in Chinese. It's very similar to how "right" is used in English.

3. 没错 – méicuò

It literally means "you're not wrong". "méicuò没错" could be translated as "that's right" .

A: 你是学生吗? nǐ shì xuéshēng mа? — Are you a student?

B: 没错 méi cuò — That's right.

3.好 – hǎo|好的 – hǎode

Both of them are similar to "good," "fine," and "OK." They are the most common ways of saying "OK" or "good" as an agreement to a request.

"好的hǎode" is much more softer than "好hǎo" in the tone. You can hear "好的hǎode" from hotel staff or a server at a restaurant that means "I agree (with you)" or "will do".

A: 请把我的行李放在我的房间 qǐng bǎ wǒde xínglǐ fàngzài wǒde fángjiān — Please take the suitcase to my room .

B: 好的 hǎode — Will do.

4. 行 – xíng

"Will do," "OK." This word originates from the verb "to go". You may have seen this character painted on the traffic signs.

Used to give someone permission to do something, often translated as "can" or "may."

A: 可以抽烟吗 ? kěyǐ chōuyān ma? — Can I smoke here?

B: 可以 kěyǐ — Yes, you can.

Both kěyǐ可以 and xíng行 are the words that mean "you can," so in some cases 可以 and 行 can be used interchangeably.

6. Ok了 – Ok le

As a colloquial way of saying some work has been done, young generations like to speak "Ok le" in the daily.

A: 你做完作业了吗? nǐ zuò wán zuòyè le ma? — Have you finished your homework?
